The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs established in 2024 the Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium, aiming to enhance the engagement of young people of Greek descent with contemporary Greek society.
In this context, the 1st Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium was held in Athens on November 27–28, 2024.
Building on the success of that initiative, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy is organizing the 2nd Symposium, which will take place in Athens on November 25–28, 2025. The broader hosting program, including the Symposium, will run from November 24 to 30.
The Symposium will bring together young members of the Greek Diaspora aged 18–25, who will participate as speakers (panelists). In addition, the Greek Youth Diaspora Ambassadors, young participants from the first Symposium, will present their initiatives promoting Hellenism and will be awarded for their achievements. This year’s panelists will, in turn, be appointed as Greek Youth Diaspora Ambassadors, undertaking actions and initiatives to highlight and promote the Greek Diaspora worldwide.
The Symposium aims to showcase opportunities for collaboration and networking between young people of the Diaspora and their peers in Greece, through the lens of contemporary challenges and emerging global prospects. The thematic sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including cultural identity and heritage, the Greek language and arts, education, AI and innovation, sustainable development and the environment, as well as the role of volunteerism, sports, and youth in fostering social cohesion.
